Roll Call for all those who actually attended the 1965 ECWC Final
Trotted out every now and again but relevant to do again 50 years on from last drink etc. For all those 70 something's - Your reminiscences from the game. Mine as a 12 year old accompanied by Dad (I missed out on the 64 Cup Final - could only get one ticket between us in the Voucher ballot in those days and no luck with the lucky Program number either) On the day of the final late after noon East London was clogged with traffic and the Grey Green Coach we were on took forever to inch toward Wembley with many getting off when we approached Baker Street for a quicker Met line ride up to Wembley Park - we finally got into the ground a good 15 mins into the game but what struck me straight away was that West Ham seemed to be all over Munich going close up to Half Time. Great atmosphere and clearly a high quality game.
Sealeys' Goals kind of engrained in my mind scoring at our end of the stadium - I just thought it would be like this every year - oh dear. Sadly unless the tooth fairy delivers a ticket I will not be in Prague - those that make it - enjoy as it might be a long time to the next drink.

I was twelve and there with my nine year old brother. A great night and a fantastic atmosphere with 90,000 east enders in the place.

We'd been to all the home games including the first against La Gantoise where if memory serves me well only 19,000 turned up. My dad was in Switzerland for the Lausanne game.

I've got to be honest, this Conference thing pales in comparison to the ECWC.

My dad was there. He died a couple of years back. It's the only thing that made me sad about getting to the final in Prague and getting tickets, he'd have loved to have been there with all the family.

Was 13 year old went with my mate, yes we were allowed at that age to go to matches without an adult.
The atmosphere was amazing and I also missed out on the 1964 cup final, bloke was selling it at £25 and my old man wouldn't pay it.
But yes an amazing night and I too thought these European ventures would go on forever, getting home was a nightmare getting 100,000 fans home through Wembley Park tube station was not ideal

I was there aged 10
My first experience of Wembley and took my breath away and can remember it like it was yesterday
Also at Upton Park for the Lausanne and Zaragoza games
At that age I thought we won a cup every year

I was there at Wembley, with a German work colleague, who was also a member of the 1860 club. I was 20 years old.
Great night out and he bought the drinks and the meal.
It was my second final in a row, as I was there for the FA cup and, a year later, for the World Cup victory.

I was 14, don't remember too much about it, I must have been off of my head on glue.

I think being all over Munich was attributable to the manager we had at the time. That was when managers used to come out and try score goals from the kick off and the more goals you scored meant the team you were playing very likely could not get back into the game. There’s a guy managing a team from Manchester that still uses these old fashioned tactics - even today. Oh and I was there but I’m not 70 or something so need to conserve my energy for when I am.

Re: Roll Call for all those who ACTUALLY attended the 1965 ECWC Final
I was 7, and didn't have the slightest interest.

I only became hooked on football when I was 9, almost immediately after the very best time to be a West Ham fan ended. Fortunately, there were other good times.

In my defence, my Dad, although a West Ham fan, didn't really encourage me to follow him.

In his defence, I think he worked out that having me in tow at matches would've interferred with his drinking with his mates.

I was 12. My Dad picked me up from school and we drove straight to Wembley, so I'm wondering if I was till wearing my school uniform. After the game, a Munich fan gave me his red and blue flag, which I still have.

I was there with my dad and his mates from work. I was 12. Couldn't take me to the cup final the year before because it involved them all going to the boozer after the game. Best West Ham United night ever. Still got the programme.

Re: Roll Call for all those who ACTUALLY attended the 1965 ECWC Final
I was just turned 13 and a few of us went from school, South West Ham Tech, Barking Road, Canning Town. Went all the way by tube and scared a few workers with our bowlers painted claret and blue.
Great atmosphere, I swapped my bowler for an 1860 flag. I bought the DVD a few years back, in black and white and it reminded me, as I thought at the time, what a great game Johnny Byrne had.
Also went to every game home and away in1975/76 ECWC on the way to the final.
Memories, great times.
